We're always out there researching our favorite subjects - wine, food and all of life's greatest pleasures. When we find new products, meet interesting people, learn new techniques, or our taste something delicious, we'll share it with you here. We've recently added a new comments module to our blog, so now you can tell us what you think about our stories. Go ahead, be daring! Share with our readers your experience - even if you happen to disagree with us - we can take it.
Cheers, Jen & Julie

Turkey Trivia

While a harvest "thanksgiving" has been celebrated since early American settlers came to Plymouth 1621, it was not until 1863 that President Abraham Lincoln's declared it a national holiday. President Franklin
Roosevelt moved Thanksgiving from the last Thursday to the third Thursday in
November in 1939 in order to extend the Christmas shopping season. This
move was not popular and in 1941, Congress permanently set the date on the
fourth Thursday of November.
Now, test your TurkeySmarts with a few questions about the bird that Benjamin
Franklin had once proposed
to be the official United
States bird.

Wine Blog Wednesday: Portuguese Wine
|
Vinho Verde Review
Today is Wine Blog Wednesday, the day in which
many wine bloggers post articles on a specific theme. This month’s theme is hosted
by Catavino – the source for Iberian Wine Information.
Regular readers of this blog will know that Jen
and I frequently bust out bottles of Vinho Verde on hot afternoons when we need
a pick-me-up (which is pretty frequent during the summer in our office). Our
absolute favorite is from Broadbent Selections , and we typically buy cases of
it each year.
Not only is it a bargain ($9.95 online), but it is low in alcohol (9%), so we
can keep working afterwards. I like this wine so much, I had it as the starter
wine at my wedding in April, and it was a huge hit.
