QUESTION 1: Casanova supposedly ate which aphrodisiac every morning?

 Answer: A … Oysters

This squishy food is said to be the famous seducer’s morning favorite. He ate about 50 each morning, which may have fueled his active sex life. Spanish fly, also reputed to be an aphrodisiac, is made up of ground-up beetles and is actually poisonous—not much of a turn-on.

QUESTION 2: In the Kama Sutra, women are encouraged to learn the 64 arts of love. Which of the following is not one of them?

Answer: D … Domestication of wild bulls

In this ancient Indian guide to the art of sex and love, a woman needed to learn many skills to earn the title of Ganika, an expert in the art of love. Other skills included gambling, sports, pastry making, and chemistry. A woman achieving Ganika status would be favored above all the wives of her husband. The Kama Sutra also advised that she could support herself through these arts if she ever fell into distress.

QUESTION 3: The Marquis de Sade once hosted a lusty party where he served chocolate laced with:

Answer: B … Spanish Fly

The Marquis, known for his sexual exploits, mixed the reputed aphrodisiac Spanish Fly into chocolates at a 1772 ball which, according to one writer of the time, degenerated into a “licentious orgy.” After the ball, de Sade and a servant were both arrested for their transgressions. Many now believe that his enemies invented the tale to discredit him. What we do know for certain is that the Marquis de Sade was passionate about his chocolate—it appeared frequently among his list of demands while in prison.
